In 1996 the first Patent application, EP0820856A1, was filed at European Patent Office (EPO) regarding Perforated packaging films. The company has been granted with 26 international Patents, with 15 active ones, along with 12 active Trademarks, covering and protecting the entire MEGAPLAST product portfolio at numerous countries.

2013
(June 2013) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Ecoventi Sistemas S.L. on the grounds of ES2366871(EP1989044) patent right infringement.
2016
(September 2016) The Patent Court of Barcelona in Spain, issued a 1st instance decision in favor of MEGAPLAST S.A. on patent infringement against the company Ecoventi Sistemas S.L.
2017
(January 17) The Appeal Proceedings in front of the EPO, in Munich Germany, were concluded in favor of MEGAPLAST S.A., against the granted patent EP 1989044 entitled "packaging film", between MEGAPLAST S.A. and Ecoventi Sistemas S.L & Silvalac S.A.
2018 – 2019
(May 2018 - April 2019) MEGAPLAST S.A has won the legal actions against Ecoventi Sistemas S.L over the granted patent EP1989044 entitled “packaging film”, (the “MEGAPLAST Patent”). The Court of Appeal of Barcelona stated that the Ecoventi Sistemas S.L had to compensate MEGAPLAST S.A for the damages sustained for the period 2008-2013. The company has compensated more than 1.1M euro.
(December 2018) In the frameworks of the provisional execution of the 1st instance decision on patent infringement against the company Ecoventi Sistemas S.L. for the period 2009-2013, MEGAPLAST S.A filed a request for fixing the amount of damages for the period from 2014 onwards. Damages to be finalized.
2019
(July 2019) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Paperval Plastics, S.L. on the grounds of ES2366871(EP1989044) patent right infringement.
2020
(November 2020) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Galloplastik S.R.L., on the grounds of EP1768837 patent right infringement.
(December 2020) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Oxifilm S.L. on the grounds of ES2366871(EP1989044) patent right infringement.
2022
(January 2022) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Ecoventi Sistemas S.L. on the grounds of ES2366871(EP1989044) patent right infringement.
(July 2022) MEGAPLAST S.A. filed a lawsuit against Ecoventi Sistemas S.L. and Oxifilm S.L., on the grounds of ES2366871 (EP1989044) patent right infringement.
2023
(February 2023) MEGAPLAST S.A has won the 1st instance proceedings legal actions against Paperval Plastics, S.L. over the granted patent EP1989044 entitled “packaging film”, (the “MEGAPLAST Patent”). The Commercial Court of Barcelona stated that the Paperval Plastics, S.L. had to compensate MEGAPLAST S.A for the damages sustained for the period 2015-2019.
